I have been making pottery for 20 years, starting with High School and then on into college. A friend introduced me to the Art Show world. And here I am… Each piece is hand thrown on a potters wheel out of a ball of clay. I use only porcelain to get the best results and brightest colors. After the bisque fire (the initial firing), the pieces are ready to be dipped into glaze and then hand-painted. My specialty is the hand-painting. Each piece is done one at a time, on a decorating wheel. The brushes I use are bamboo writing brushes. The pigments are called “stains”. When the pigment are fired they melt into the glaze and never wear off. The pottery is then fired a second time to a temperature of 2100 degrees. It is then cooled and ready to sell. On other pieces, I use slabs to create wall hangings, cottages and plaques. Sometimes lace is imprinted to give texture and excitement. I create all my own patterns. Each item can actually be used in your everyday life or be displayed in a place of honor. My pottery is therapeutic to me and I take GREAT pride in the craftsmanship. I am proud to share it with you.
